Customisation
You can customise any Billy product with your own text, choose the binding and paper type for your book !
We’ve tried to make adding personalisation as easy as possible but if you need a hand, or you’d like some tips on how to make your item look just how you want it, take a look at the information below!
1. Type and check your custom text is spelled correctly
(check your spelling and grammar in the text fields of the Personalisation Tool)
2. Check your custom text looks correct in the live preview image
(check everything looks just as you want it to on the preview. For best results do not overlap text boxes or images)
3. Check you’ve selected the correct paper type
(check in the Notebook Style tool. Your selection will also be shown on the inner preview image)
4. Check you’ve selected the correct spine and cover types

After you’ve checked everything and you’re happy with your design, add it to your basket!
Which spine and cover style is right for me?
HARDBOUND
Spine - Bound
Cover - Hard
A hardbound notebook makes a wonderful gift or a special personal notebook. It is hard wearing and durable, with pages glued into the solid spine. The cover is made by wrapping smooth matte laminate paper over board to create a beautiful, one of a kind book.
Perfect for: Gifts, photo journals and scrapbooks, sketchbooks, keepsakes
HARD WIRO

Cover - Hard
A hard wiro notebook is beautiful, durable and practical. The wiro spine allows it to lay completely flat so it makes a brilliant planner or organiser. It is also useful for working on the go as folding the book in half (so there is only one visible page) creates a sturdy and compact surface for writing.
Perfect for: Planners, organisers, note taking, sketching, photo journals and scrapbooks, recipes
SOFTBOUND

Cover - Soft
A softbound notebook is great for everyday notetaking or journalling. The pages are glued into the solid spine and the cover is a thick but flexible card with a smooth matte laminate finish.

A soft wiro notebook is great for everyday notetaking, shopping or to do lists. The wiro spine adds practicality and is great for scribbling on the go! Pop one in your bag and you'll be ready for anything.
Perfect for: List making, everyday notes, work notes, drafting, planning, getting messy and creative!
Paper Type
We currently offer blank, lined and dotted paper to go inside your notebook... Which you choose is really down to personal preference or practicality. Think about what the notebook will be used for when you’re deciding!
Our inner paper is sustainable 120gsm uncoated stock which is FSC approved. This is ideal for notes, sketching and even has minimal show-through with felt tips and heavier pens.

HELPFUL TIPS AND INSPIRATION
Here are a few useful pointers on using the Advanced Personalisation Tool and making your custom gift look amazing.
1. Mixing fonts
Mixing fonts is a great way to add personality and give your item the exact vibe you want - fun, serious, sophisticated, romantic, silly etc. However, it’s easy to over do it! We recommend sticking to two fonts per item. Try mixing one fun/script/handwriting font with one more traditional font to make your text look balanced. Here’s an example:
2. Upper and lower case
Try experimenting with using all upper or lower case for different lines. Simpler fonts tend to look better in the UPPER CASE whereas calligraphy and script fonts look better in lower case. Using all upper case will also be more eye-catching so use it to emphasise a line.
3. Choose a text colour that matches part of the design
If you’re uncertain about what colour text to use, try picking a colour that is already present in the design
